The Don't Pass bets pay 1 to 1 odds, which makes them quite fair. The actual odds of winning such a bet are 976:946, which is actually quite close to the even payout. In addition, mathematically this is the best bet a player could possibly choose, not to mention the additional don't pass odds bet, which would reduce the house advantage to. Pass Line & Don't Pass Wagers The pass line and don't pass wagers are the most commonly placed bets in craps and also the most straightforward. A shooter will usually have to place one of them before making their come-out roll; and in some casinos, players must make one of them if they also want to place other wagers.
If you have a flat bet of $10, you would be able to take $20 in odds, (on a 2X odds table) however, this would mean a $24 odds payout, which is awkward for most casinos. So, to even things up, most casinos let you place $25 in odds behind the 6 or 8, (which really gives you 2.5X odds instead 2X), giving you $10 for the flat portion and an even $30 for the odds portion, for a total win of $40. This is the most common. You can bet 3x on a point of 4 or 10, 4x on a point of 5 or 9, and 5x on a point of 6 or 8. No matter what point you bet on, your payout for a winning Pass Line + Odds bet will be 6x the Pass Line bet.
